What is MuseALABAMA?
Jill Marlar
Executive Director of Greenville Artwalk and founder of MuseALABAMA
MuseAlabama (MA) is a 501 © 3 non-profit organization that bridges the arts across communities through supported leadership and place-making initiatives to foster creativity, bolster entrepreneurial growth, and connect communities. By integrating art into public spaces, we transform everyday environments into vibrant, culturally rich, and engaging hubs that inspire cultural expression, build community identity, strengthen social cohesion, and support economic advancement.
Central to this work is our commitment to youth engagement, recognizing the arts—whether music, visual art, or drama—as essential to child development. The arts foster creativity, critical thinking, emotional regulation, and social skills, while supporting academic success, self- expression, confidence, and the problem-solving abilities needed for lifelong success.
Through creative placemaking experiences, we activate spaces in historically rural communities to connect people, spark dialogue, and reimagine what’s possible in our neighborhoods—enhancing quality of life for residents and fostering more inclusive, connected communities.
Vision Statement: Aspirational & Community-Driven
MuseAlabama envisions communities shaped and led through the arts—where creativity is valued as essential infrastructure, artists thrive, public spaces are activated through artistic expression, and culture strengthens social bonds, advances cultural expression, and drives sustainable economic vitality, making creativity a shared and accessible force for all.
